Two new contenders in the boxing world have been unveiled today as a part of the annual Greasley Gathering Scarecrow display. David Hay and Tyson Strawy will make their boxing debut as DSR Tax Claims’ contributions to the event, which takes place each Spring Bank Holiday Monday in the Greasley and Moorgreen areas of Nottinghamshire. This year’s scarecrow walk has a sporting theme and scarecrows representing sporting greats will be displayed around Moorgreen as a part of the free family event, which provides entertainment for the whole family to enjoy – with free red London Bus rides, a miners’ cave at nearby Colliers Wood and the beer festival at Beauvale Priory part of the day’s fun.

David Hay and Tyson Strawy scarecrowsIn charge of ensuring that Tyson Strawy and David Hay looked ready for the boxing ring, rather than the farmer’s field, was @itude Clothing and Designs printing service, based in Eastwood. Run by Mark and Damn Kemp, @itude took up the challenge of ensuring the scarecrows were ready for their boxing debut on Monday. Mark Kemp spoke today of the effort and attention to detail that have gone into the scarecrows, from fully printed faces and shorts, to boxing gloves –  with Dawn even plaiting David Hay’s straw hair into his traditional cornrow style. Mark stated that “it is definitely one of our more unusual orders and we have been incredibly busy putting all the finishing touches to the scarecrows but it has been fun task and we love to go the extra mile to make sure our customers are satisfied”.

Tax preparation specialist and founder of DSR Tax Claims, David Redfern commented that “We always aim to play a vital role at the heart of our local community, so it is a pleasure to support local events like the Greasley Gathering as well as supporting our local businesses like @itude, who provide the backbone to our high streets and local communities. Traditional family events like the Greasley Gathering are so important to local communities and it is fantastic to see our neighbourhood pull together to make sure that the event is a success, at a time when so many of these civic events are fading away”. He added that the free event was a great opportunity for families to spend quality time together.

The Greasley Gathering takes place on Monday 28th May 2018 in various locations in the Greasley and Moorgreen area and features a number of events, including the sporting scarecrow display, a flypast by a Battle of Britain Hurricane plane and the final day of the Beauvale Priory beer festival.
