Nottingham Super Lightweight boxer, Paul ‘the Meatball’ Thompson will be hoping for hometown glory in his second professional fight on Saturday 20th October at Nottingham’s Harvey Hadden Stadium. Thompson will be hoping to extend his record after his debut fight ended in a unanimous victory against London’s Dylan Draper.
Thompson, 26, kicked off his training schedule in style by coming 15th in the Ikano Robin Hood half marathon on Sunday 30th September, with a time of one hour and 17 minutes. He stated that “I couldn’t believe how far in front I was during the run, but it just shows how hard I have been working on my fitness and physical stamina”. He noted that he was now training hard for his next fight, adding “I am already down to weight so I can concentrate on my boxing without worrying that I need to make weight”.
Thompson is sponsored by DSR Tax Claims. DSR Tax Claims director, David Redfern stated that “Paul’s dedication to his sport and to his success is astounding, not only with the dedication he shows in his boxing career but even taking the Robin Hood half-marathon by storm to come 15th. His determination to be a success mirrors our own and the whole of the DSR Tax Claims team will be supporting Paul during his Hometown Glory fight”.
Tickets are still available for the “Hometown Glory” event. Door open at 7pm on Saturday 20th October 2018, with the first fight scheduled for 8pm. Tickets can be obtained by calling Paul Thompson on 07557 387909.
